Gas diagnosis

The gas diagnosis is mandatory before any sale or rental of a housing if the electrical installation is more than fifteen years old.

 

Why do we need a gas  diagnosis?

This obligation makes it possible to identify any major risk that could endanger future occupants. The compulsory gas diagnosis is above all an expertise related to safety. It is carried out without dismantling or destruction, by a visual control of specific elements of the gas installation and with the help of precision measuring devices.

Important to know

As soon as you have a gas pipe in your apartment, even if the gas meter has been removed, you have the obligation to carry out a gas diagnosis. 

What are the other features of the gas diagnosis?

The diagnostician checks specific points of the gas installation, including all appliances served by it (heating, hot water, cooking appliances), fixed pipes, connections and ventilation of rooms where combustion occurs.

The gas diagnosis report is valid for three years in the case of a sale and six years in the case of a rental and constitutes for the seller as well as for the lessor an exemption from the legal guarantee for hidden defects in case of litigation.
